After a successful fishing trip, you may so worn out that cooking dinner is the last thing you want to do, or it could just be that you are staying somewhere without cooking facilities – whatever the reason, you still want to eat your catch while it is fresh. Good news! There are plenty of restaurants in the Florida Keys that will be glad to cook your catch while you relax and sip a cool tropical drink.

 

Following are some restaurants that will ‘cook your catch’ – we have listed them in order from geographical location starting from the North, continuing South through the Keys. We will continue to add to this list, so if you find a great restaurant that will do the cooking for you, please feel free to contact us!

 

Keep in mind that the restaurants will want you to have filleted and de-boned your fish prior to bringing it in – and remember to keep it cold! Of course, fish and lobster must all be of legal size.

Ballyhoo’s Historic Seafood Grille – Located at MM 97.8 (in the Median), Key Largo, FL 305-852-0822. All fish served with your choice of baked potato, steamed carrots & broccoli, wild rice, French fries, or black beans & rice, salad and bread.

 

The Island Grill – MM 85.5 Oceanside – Under the Snake Creek Bridge 305-664-8400, Accessible by boat or car. Indoor and outdoor seating – bring your fish to be cooked by the experts!

 

Islamorada Fish Company & Zane Grey Lounge – MM 81.5, Bayside, 81532 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL, 1-800-258-2559. Known for their great atmosphere and fantastic fish sandwich, the folks at IFC will cook your catch for $8.95 per person, up to 1 pound each. Great sunset views and live music evenings at the Zane Grey Lounge.

 

Lazy Days Restaurant – MM 79.9 Oceanside, Islamorada, FL, 305-664-5256
You have the choice of six different methods of preparation to choose from when you bring your catch. The cooked catch is accompanied by soup or salad, your choice of potato, rice, French fries or vegetable of the day, homemade bread and fresh dinner rolls. Cost – $13.95 per person, for up to one pound of fish (that’s a lot of fish!) and if you have more it is $4.00 per pound, per preparation. They will also cook your lobsters (two per person).

 

The Wreck – MM 59 Bayside, Grassy Key. 305-743-8282. Located off US 1, next to the Dolphin research center, 3 miles north of Cocoplum. Tiki huts, nice bar and plenty of TV’s.

Key’s Fisheries – MM 49.2 Bayside, 3390 Gulf view Ave., Marathon FL 866-743-4353 or 305-743-6727. Turn on 35th by the Stuffed Pig – go all the way to end and veer right. Accessible by boat or car.

 

Annette’s Steak and Lobster – MM 49.1 Bayside, 305-743-5516. Family friendly restaurant with great salad bar. They will cook up to 1 pound per person, prepared broiled, fried, or grilled, for $13.95 each.

 

Castaway Seafood Restaurant – Located at MM 48 Oceanside, 1406 Ocean view Ave (Down 11th St) 305-743-6247. Accessible by boat or car. Water access: Go down the canal behind Poncho’s Fuel Dock (left canal facing Poncho’s docks from the water, at 24 42.187N 081 06.585W). Your catch is usually served ‘family style’ on a platter prepared five ways; broiled, sautéed, fried, blackened and lemon caper sauce. $10.95 per person, which includes the salad bar, vegetable, honey buns and your choice of potatoes, rice or fries.

 

Cabot’s – MM 47.6 Oceanside, Marathon, FL, at the end of 11th St by Marathon Marina, (formerly Shuckers) 305-743-6442. Nice sunsets and happy hour on the dock bar. Accessible by boat or car.

 

Burdine’s Waterfront Marina & Chiki Tiki – MM 47.5 Oceanside, 1200 Ocean view Ave. 305-743-5317 or 305-743-9204. Accessible by boat or car.

 

Porky’s Bayside – MM 47.8 Bayside, 1400 Overseas Highway. 305-289-2065. Provides free sunset cruises on pontoon boat with advance notice. Casual & inexpensive BBQ restaurant.

 

The Seven Mile Grill – MM 47.7 Bayside, 305-743-4481. World Famous! – Very Small – Casual on water.

 

 

Conch Republic Seafood Company - 631 Greene St., Key West, Between Elizabeth St and Simonton St, 305-294-4403. Famous for its 80 foot long rum bar in the shape of a boat. They will gladly cook your catch for $12.99 per person, your fish can be prepared for different ways, served family style, with 4 side dishes. Great raw bar!

 

 

Blue Heaven Restaurant  – 729 Thomas St, Key West, FL 305-296-8666. Serving Keys style cuisine, the restaurant is family friendly and has outdoor seating available. They fill your plate with your cooked catch for $15.00 per person.
